Collection: Amethyst

Here you will find Amethyst offerings, from raw clusters to tumble stones, double terminated points to car & home decor.

Amethyst is found world-wide and is a much-loved essential of the crystal world and even those who aren't collectors seem to have Amethyst in their homes!

What creates Amethyst?
Amethyst is Clear quartz with inclusions of Manganese and iron.  Natural irradiation and other minerals in the soil can vary the colouring, with ranges from pale silvery lavender, deep red-violet, deep purple, purplish-black, and so many shades in between.

What creates Chevron Amethyst?
Similar to 'phantoms', Amethyst can layer with White Quartz in a 'chevron' '^' form as it grows.

What are the black specks I see in Amethyst?
While Amethyst can have inclusions of many different minerals, 'Goethite' is the most common inclusion and they appear like small black flecks or squiggles.

Amethyst has been known to lose colour when left in direct sunlight for long periods of time so care should be taken when placing Amethyst on windowsills and in gardens.  I'm not saying don't do it! I am saying to be choosy about the position!
