This gorgeous Elderwood pendant has been dyed this amazing red tone, the dye stabilised prior to being created into this beautiful hand-finished pendant by Nathan - Our Little Shed.  The Elderwood pendant is accompanied by simple Brass beading, allowing the amazing timber to speak for itself, and woven into Black Linhasita cording.

What is Elderwood?
Elder Trees are both native and introduced in Australia.  The Native Elder tree is found almost anywhere along the east coast of Australia from QLD to TAS.  The introduced Box Elder trees are usually found in cooler regions of NSW/VIC/SA.

Elder Trees holds ancient connection through centuries, intertwined in herblore, folklore, superstition and legend.  An unassuming yet magical tree, Elders demand recognition for their resilience and many offerings from food harvest, herbal remedies and a long respected reputation for it's protection from harmful spirits away.  Based in Celtic tradition, people hung boughs of Elderwood in their doorways to protect their homes.  They would carry Elderwood talismans and wear Elderwood flowers to protect themselves from malicious intent and evil spirits.  It was seen as good luck and protection to have an Elder Tree planted near your home or in your yard.
