Gidgee wood & Zebra Jasper Macrame Necklace - 'Spirit of Dryad' Talisman

You are looking at a Gidgee wood Macrame Necklace - 'Spirit of Dryad' Talisman.

This gorgeous Gidgee pendant has been hand-finished by Nathan - Our Little Shed, before being woven into this talisman by me.  The Gidgee has been paired with Australian Zebra Stone beading interspersed with brass, and woven into Black Linhasita cording.  

What is Gidgee?
Gidgee is a tree endemic to NT, Qld and NSW and is better known as the 'Stinking Wattle' due to the distinctive odour it emits during in humid temperatures. It is extremely dense, being one of the most pest resistant and the third hardest wood in the world.  The deep brown wood is the inner 'heartwood' and the lighter yellow wood is the outer 'sapwood'.   
Gidgee wattle trees are a symbol of strength, resilience and positivity in new beginnings.  As one of the first trees to generate new growth after bushfires, Gidgee supports growth during self-discovery and soul renewal journeys.  Gidgee has a nurturing energy and natural warmth, beneficial and supportive to healers and care givers.

Zebra Jasper is a symbol of duality and motivation, helping integrate the yin and yang of life into the present moment.  It supports emotional wellbeing and adaptability, protecting during spiritual and self-reflective journeys. 

Given that Gidgee is the third hardest timber worldwide, the beautiful grain display and smoothly tactile nature of these pendants are an incredible show of Nathan's woodworking mastery and attention to detail.
