'Citron Chrysoprase' Lemon Magnesite - Australian Mineral
Lemon Magnesite 'Citron Chrysoprase' from eastern Goldfields, Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
A rough specimen with polished face, and a crust that has a lovely sparkle in the sunlight (sadly I wasn't able to capture this in photos).
Magnesite occurs as veins and nodes, produced by the hydrothermal leaching of the magnesium from serpentine. Magnesite is usually white however the presence of nickel creates the beautiful lemon colour shown in 'Citron Chrysoprase' aka Lemon Magnesite.
